Full of holes!
That bridge reminds me of some people’s theories about life: Gaps everywhere!
Our “guard dog” Cleo can be very brave and adventurous…unless she has to cross a metal bridge with holes in it!
We got to that bridge up at Cowans Gap and Cleo absolutely halted! Jen had to carry her just to get Cleo across.
Bridges with holes can be scary, but views about life that are full of holes can be absolutely tragic.
Genesis 27 is the infamous chapter where Jacob (and his mom Rebekah) deceived Isaac out of the blessing due the firstborn son (which was Esau).
Rebekah wanted her favorite son to get more blessing, but by the end of the chapter, she’s hurrying him away before Esau killed him.
Jacob, whose name means deceiver or supplanter, often seemed to want to get as much for himself as he could; and by the end of the chapter, he’s running for his life, leaving so much behind.
And what’s even worse: Jacob used God’s name as a part of the deceit: “And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me.” (Genesis 27:20)
Their plan was tragically full of holes!
Let’s never use God to go our own way. Instead let’s allow God to include us in His plan. That’s a solid way to live.
Today’s Bible reading is Genesis 27.
