Fight for each other instead of fighting against each other
Bella carefully guarded that carrot. She didn’t want to eat it, but she didn’t want our other dog Cleo to have it either!
We can laugh at silly dogs and their silly fights, but it gets scary when silly humans do similar things.
We should be fighting for each other, not against each other.
Genesis 13:7-8 says, “And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land. And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.”
It took effort to avoid the fight, but being family is a pretty good reason not to fight. And family doesn’t have to be only blood relatives.
Who should you be fighting for instead of fighting against today? I’m so glad Jesus is willing to fight for us not against us.
If you’d like to read through the Old Testament with us, today’s reading is 13.
