What’s that got to do with me?

I’ve literally said it before (in a devo similar to this one), and it’s worth saying again: The angle makes a difference. The hill (angled toward the sun yesterday) melted a lot more than the flat ground that was angled more away from the sun. Everything else was the same.

That’s how it often is with Jesus: If we turn toward Him, His impact on our lives will be completely different than if we turn away from Him.

‭‭1 John‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬-‭8 says, “This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.”

It’s hard to know everything that’s meant by “water and blood.” Different thoughts have been discussed and debated. I believe it most likely points to Jesus’ water baptism and shedding His blood on the cross for us.

What’s definitely clear is that really came to earth.

He came in flesh and blood, paid for our redemption and salvation, and empowers us to live right here right now with Him, to live in this flesh and blood world.

Yes heaven will be amazing for all eternity. But our flesh-and-blood Savior makes it possible for us to live victoriously right where we are today.

What’s that got to do with you and me? Hopefully everything!
