How do we know what’s actually going on?
You can spin these wires and spin them some more and they seem to be growing, but they end up right back where they started. Kind of a fun trick (and might look more fun if you watch the video version of this devotional), but it shows one of many times it’s hard to know what’s really going on.
Sometimes that’s true as we read the Bible; other times it’s really not no matter what some people like to say.
Revelation 20:1-3 says, “And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.”
In the end times, God will claim the final victories over Satan and evil.
So how do we know this will really be 1,000 years? Because the Bible says so! Context confirms it, so any claims to the contrary just don’t matter.
The Bible contains poetry and figurative language that is obviously just that, but we can trust that the Bible says what it means and means what it says.
Most of the time, the Bible is clear and easy to understand if we’ll take the time, allow the Holy Spirit to lead us, and read with a heart eager to hear from God.
Instead of wondering what’s going on, we can look to the Bible for what we need each day.
