Well, our first attempt at a carbon sugar snake wasn’t very successful! (Google it if you wanna see what it was supposed to look like!) I think we ended up with a carbon sugar blob or maybe a smooshed spider!
A good chemical reaction takes all the ingredients together in just the right way to make this growth happen.
And it takes each part of God’s Word being received into our lives to bring spiritual growth.
2 Peter 3:14-16 says, “Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.”
“wrest…unto their destruction”
Instead of submitting to what the Bible says, these people twisted it and “read between the lines” until they’d gotten rid of the real meaning and made the Bible say whatever they wanted it to say.
That happens a lot today too: Many people don’t reject the Bible; they just twist what it says.
The end of a life without Bible truth is destruction.
And the end of a day without Bible truth for a Christian is often destruction on a smaller scale (strained relationships, wasted time…)
It’s not just reading the Bible or knowing what it says: It’s about living it out, allowing the Bible to show us what to do and what not to do, where to go, what to say, and when to keep our mouth shut.
