It takes both sides to avoid a fight, but we can always do our part

We had a fun family trip to Gettysburg Saturday morning. Brooklyn is working on a school essay on Gettysburg, so it was great for her to see some of the places like Devil’s Den that she’s writing about. And Gettysburg is always a special place for us to all take time to remember the horrendous conflict that happened there.

James‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭says, “From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.”

That wasn’t specifically written to soldiers or anyone involved in what we’d normally consider war.

Wrong desires will always lead to conflict. A wrong heart will always come out and “bleed” all over those around us. But the right heart and the right desires will always bring good things.

The right things are ours for the asking from God, but when we desire the wrong things, no good will ever come from it.
