Problems from people or goodness from God: Which should we focus on?
We’re having fun at the Great Wolf Lodge waterpark! It’s easy to get overwhelmed with the crowd of people, but the lines are pretty short and there’s so much to enjoy.
Even in a fun place like this, there’s the choice to focus on problems from people or the good things God brings into our lives. Problems often have to be dealt with but not dwelt on.
On Mondays and Tuesdays this year, I’m reading Psalms and Proverbs. This morning I read Psalm 116:10-11: “I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted: I said in my haste, all men are liars.”
And then I read Proverbs 24:13-14: “My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; And the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: When thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, And thy expectation shall not be cut off.”
Fun combination of verses! We probably have all gotten so frustrated with people that we wanted to declare everyone to be liars, all bad, all whatever. But God always offers us good things as we follow Him and His wisdom, and that’s where we should keep our focus.
