Does Dad sing too much?

I think my daughters (and often my wife) would say a definite yes! I don’t sing well, but I do enjoy singing often and even putting my own words with songs just to be silly and make songs fit the situation. It kind of annoys the girls, but I think they kinda enjoy it too. But there are definitely times to not sing. 

Proverbs‬ ‭25‬:‭20‬ ‭says, “As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, So is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.”

It just doesn’t work. In fact, it makes things worse!

We need to be there for people, especially when they are going through a hard time. That doesn’t mean we say whatever they want to hear, but it also doesn’t mean we ignore their hurt either. 

We can respond with the right spirit and make the situation better not worse by at least showing the discouraged person we care. And sometimes the best help is just to be there, be present with someone as they process and deal with a situation.
