You gotta get up early to see the sunrise!
Maybe you’d say that it’s not worth it and are glad to sleep in! I’ll admit I’m not a super early-morning person, but I did enjoy the sunrise this morning. The cost of seeing the sunrise is getting out of bed before it’s over, and a lot of times there’s a cost to drawing close to God and having the best relationship with God as well.
Psalm 108:1-4 says, “O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: And I will sing praises unto thee among the nations. For thy mercy is great above the heavens: And thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.”
It’s not that we always have to get up early, but we do need to make God our #1 priority whether that’s in the time of day, giving our time in general, or just staying focused on Him and following Him throughout each day.
You might not be interested in getting up extra early to see a sunrise (and I’ll admit tonight’s sunset was even better than the sunrise!), but I hope we’ll all be willing to give up whatever we need to so we can keep God as our top priority.
And if He is your #1, what can you praise Him for today?
