The square in Chambersburg is beautiful (as long as no one runs into it!). But it can be confusing since it’s not a roundabout even though it looks like one. It’s 2 one-way streets crossing.
Going the right direction is important. Going the wrong way just to join others is a mistake.
To have unity with people going the wrong way is a sad mistakes because it means we are going the wrong way and so are others.
1 Thessalonians 3:12 says, “And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:”
Why?
Verse 13 says, “To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.”
Love is intended to lead to holiness.
Love that leads away from God or toward sin is not love at all. Love seeks the good of others. Their needs. What’s best for them. And sin is never best for anyone.
Joining others in their sin so we can be “tolerant” or have peace and unity is just plain wrong. Liking sin (even by hitting that like button on Facebook) is wrong because it supports them in their sin instead of helping others receive the help, hope, and forgiveness that’s available through Jesus.
