Serving God can be a trap!

We all have opportunities to serve Jesus every day. I love teaching math, preaching, writing devotionals, and especially time with my kids (as well as other opportunities), but if we aren’t careful, the things we do for God can get out of balance and start to matter more to us than God Himself.

In 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2‬:‭2‬ and 4‬-‭5‬ ‭show Paul’s motives and heart for ministry:  “But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. 5 For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:”

‭‭

“Bold…not as pleasing men, but God”

Paul stayed focused on what ministry is all about: God’s glory and impacting everyone we can for Jesus.

‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭says, “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? For ye are our glory and joy.”

For Paul, it was all about Jesus and investing in others. His relationship with Jesus and the spiritual growth of others were his reward.
