I would never want to forget or downplay the atrocity and tragedy that was 9/11. And I’d never say anything to dishonor or devalue those who lost their lives and those who stepped up as American heroes on that day. But I have to admit between life’s normal business, Charlie Kirk being killed yesterday, Iryna Zarutska being stabbed to death recently, the recent school shooting in Colorado, and all the other chaos going on right now, today’s date slipped my mind some during the day. So much death. So much hatred. So much division!
Is unity possible? Is there hope when we’re THIS divided?
Real unity is possible, but only through Jesus.
Ephesians 6:9b says, “knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.”
We either follow our Lord Jesus or fight it out in endless, often eternally meaningless, conflict. Sometimes that conflict is tragic and makes headlines. Other times it’s private in our homes. But conflict is real, and Jesus is the answer to it.
