I’m about sick of politics…especially when the issue isn’t primarily political!
When discussions about school shootings or a murder become more about political agenda than personal grief and personal need, it’s a sad day (and sadly that seems to be every day lately!).
Earlier today I posted this on Threads after reading responses to the arrest of the man who shot Charlie Kirk: “Everyone needs Jesus! That was the most important part of Charlie Kirk’s message, and it’s the most important message for all of us! Jesus is the only hope for Republicans, Democrats, young and old, white and people of color, heterosexuals, homosexuals, LGBTQ, straight, all of us!”
The cursing and nonsensical insults hurled my way prove just how easy it is to miss the point.
That’s ok. If we’re going to live for Jesus and speak the truth, we should expect some rejection and difficulty. After all, look what people did to Jesus!
Philippians 1:29 says, “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;” Those people had some things to endure, and so will all of us if we live for Jesus.
2 Timothy 3:12 says, “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”
We aren’t made to blend in. So if our Christian life is always easy, that’s a bad sign that we aren’t sold out for Christ the way we should be.
We don’t need to go looking for the fight, but we do need to closely follow our Savior and shine the light so that all may see Him.
