I enjoy putting on some skates now and then, especially with my daughters. B got to go to a friend’s birthday party, and of course I couldn’t stay on the sidelines. I gave Brooklyn her space and time with her friends, but I enjoyed getting some skate time.
I’m thankful that we as Christians have so many opportunities to be off the sidelines.
It’s sad that many mock the idea of offering prayers to someone going through a tough time. I’m not sure why anyone would think we would pray and not also help.
But maybe we need to put action to our prayers more often.
Maybe we also need to stop worrying about what others are saying about us.
I know we definitely need to stay off the sidelines and keep doing right.
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 says, “and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; that ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.”
More doing, less talking is often a good thing.
You might say all I do in these devotionals is talk, and you’d probably be right. But I hope we all consider the challenge to put action to our words, feet to our prayers, and movement to our faith.
