You get what you pay for…and sometimes it’s worth it! 3 hour drive for this meal…and worth every minute of it! We got to see our wonderful friends who own Gertie’s, enjoy some of the best food around (seriously better cheesesteaks than Philly!), and spend time counseling with an amazing couple that is getting married in October. On Sunday our family gets to sing and I get to preach at the church where I served as youth pastor for seven years. Worth every penny of gas and every minute of time!
The real cost of things often goes beyond money. And the real cost of influence, friendship, and discipleship is worth it.
2 Corinthians 12:14-15 says, “Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not your's, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.”
“I seek not your's, but you”
“Spend and be spent for you” GLADLY.
That’s influence. That’s discipleship. That’s what the Christian life is supposed to look like.
Our weekend really is a fun blessing for our family, but investing in others is worth it even when it’s hard.
If it were easy, everyone would be doing it, but investing in others is so worthwhile that everyone should choose to do it.
