I can get over my “hatred” of mayonnaise easily (as long as I don’t have to eat it!). But smartphones and social media can consume us and mess us up.
I get the irony of making that statement in a devotional I’m posting on social media using my smartphone, but sometimes it’s easy to forget who and what the real enemy is. Sometimes it’s easy to be upset about things that don’t really matter and then not care about the real issues.
I plan to keep using my smartphone and social media, but there are some things that are definitely just plain wrong.
Psalm 97:10 says, “Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: He preserveth the souls of his saints; He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.”
Hate evil because it’s wrong.
Hate evil because it was ruining our lives before we came to Jesus.
Hate evil because it ruins other people’s lives as its temptation and attraction keep them from Jesus.
Let’s pray that God will deliver “them out of the hand of the wicked” and let’s pray that God will help us to hate sin and love Him more each day.
You might like mayonnaise, and I actually do appreciate technology (most of the time), but we probably all need to hate things that are actually sin more.
