When you first blow a candle out, you can relight it by holding a flame in the smoke. It burns down and gets the candle burning again.
Fun little science thing to try, but it can be convicting how much it takes to get Christians “on fire” for Jesus, excited, ready to go forward for Him.
2 Corinthians 9:1-2 says, “For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you: for I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.”
“your zeal hath provoked very many”
We usually think of provoking someone as a bad thing (as in provoking children to wrath, stirring up anger…), but we can provoke people to do more for God as well; and zeal—passion, enthusiasm for living out our faith—is a great way to do that.
Is your faith real enough for you to live it out? Is it real enough for you to be excited and zealous about it?
