Jen and I got to try a couple new ice cream flavors at Bruster’s tonight. My peanut butter with nutter butters was delicious…even if it didn’t completely match the picture!
Sometimes that exactly why people reject God or doubt Him: because He doesn’t perfectly match their picture they made up of what God should do.
Have you ever wondered why God doesn’t do more? I mean He’s God, so He could answer prayers faster, do more miracles, and prove His existence is a more obvious and noticeable way. But that would make us miss the point: He’s God, He knows best, and we need to come to Him in faith not presumption thinking we know better than Him.
Psalm 83:1 “Keep not thou silence, O God: Hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.”
Sometimes God seems distant because we’ve drifted away from Him like the people of Israel did. Hopefully we’d never deny God outright, but our actions have been all about us, not about Him. And now He seems silent.
It’s not that He’s actually silent or that He’s doing nothing. He just isn’t matching our expectations for Him. That’s why it’s important to get to know what the Bible says about God better and better. Then we’ll have a better picture of the true God and be able to tell when we’re the problem, not Him.
