I was driven to mow before the rain, driven to make sure the lawn look good, and driven simply to get the job done (as much as I could today).
Probably good motivations, but not the best one.
In Acts 26, Paul was examined as a criminal. As his defense, his explanation of why he did what he did, Paul shares his personal testimony of coming to Jesus in faith and then serving Him.
Acts 26:19-20 says, “Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: 20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.”
The Gospel is why Paul did what he did: to help as many people as possible know about Jesus and have a chance to repent and believe on Jesus. That’s a perfect motivation for all of us!
