We made it to the exact middle of the Appalachian Trail today! Might be hard to read the signs, but we were 1,090.5 miles from the Georgia end and the Maine end. I’m amazed at everyone who through hikes the whole trail! We enjoyed our 7 miles of hiking today.
It was special to stand in the middle and think how far it was to either end, but sometimes it’s difficult to see or even imagine the end of something when we’re in the middle.
In Psalm 73, the writer laments how much easier it seems to reject God and live however we want. Verses 2-5 say, “But as for me, my feet were almost gone; My steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the foolish, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For there are no bands in their death: But their strength is firm. They are not in trouble as other men; Neither are they plagued like other men.”
But verse 17 fast forwards and looks ahead: “Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then understood I their end.”
The end won’t always be visible from the middle, and that’s ok if we know which way we’re headed.
Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus, the amazing future He has for us, and all the blessings He brings our way right now. And one of the greatest blessings is that He uses every bump along the way for our good and His glory.
