Let it work

They say a watched pot never boils, and sometimes a watched fire won’t really catch and get going. I finally stopped messing with it and walked away, and before long it was a great fire. The more I messed with it, the worse it got, but when I let it work, it was great.

In a similar way, sometimes we’ve just got to trust God and let Him work.

Acts 28:28 says, “Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.”

Individuals from anywhere can come to Jesus, and no doubt many did during Paul’s time there sharing his faith. But the Jewish people largely continued to reject their Messiah as many still do today.

Romans 11:25-27 explains more of God’s plan for Jewish people: “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.”

Salvation through faith has always been available to anyone from anywhere, and God still has hope and a future for Israel nationally as well. I look forward to the day when so many within that nation will choose to come to Christ.

Some claim that Israel in the Bible is not Israel today, but the plan extends to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (aka Israel) and definitely includes that land. So yes God still has a special plan for Israel.

Not everything the nation, its government, or its people do is perfect (true for every nation!), but God’s Word makes it clear that God has a plan for Israel as well as a plan for everyone who will place their faith in Him through Jesus the Messiah.

We can’t fully understand all of that plan or all of how current events fit into that plan, but we can let God work and be grateful to be on His side.

We can dig into the truth, let God work, and not fall for the lies or panic over the “what ifs.”
