Might be a close competition in our family!🤣
There are times to be stubborn and not give in to pressure or fear. But there are also times when stubbornness makes us miss out on what’s best.
Acts 7:1-2 says, “Then said the high priest, Are these things so? And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,”
Stephen was one of the first deacons. Through Jesus’ power, he was able to do some amazing miracles and powerfully speak the truth. Many Jewish religious leaders (who rejected Jesus) didn’t like what was going on, and Stephen got to explain the message of Jesus by tracing it throughout history.
In Acts 7:51, Stephen really got to the heart of their issue: “Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.”
Their stubborn pride blinded them to the truth of Jesus and would lead them to kill Stephen for his message.
Jesus’ plan of salvation went way back. The need of those leaders and each us goes way back.
But none of that does any good until we admit our need, get over our stubbornness, and come to Jesus.
Is your stubbornness holding back anything Jesus wants to do in your life today?
