What do you need in the morning?
The cold coffee was for Jen, but the food was for me!
Those things help, but we all need something more than food and caffeine for each day to keep us going strong.
Acts 6:1-3 says, “And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.”
In Acts 6, we see the choosing of the first deacons. The word deacon means servant.
Have you ever wondered why it was a big deal for deacons to be full of the Holy Ghost? I mean, their main job in that church was going to be to serve food, not to preach!
But whatever we do needs to be done through the Holy Spirit, and when it is, it will have a huge impact.
Spirit-filled people always make a difference.
People with a position may or may not make a difference.
People with a lot of talent or money may or may not make a difference.
But Spirit-filled people always make a difference.
The question is will we allow the Holy Spirit to fill us even when that means emptying ourselves of other things and influences?
