Some things are better once they get shaken up

Maybe you can see how much that raspberry lemonade has settled and needs to be shaken up.

It’s true of that drink, and I think the early church learned this lesson the hard way.

Acts 1:8 says, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

But 7 chapters later they really hadn’t obeyed and gone anywhere. Acts 8:1 says, “And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.”

It took persecution to get them to obey. God brought eternal good out of the situation, but it would have been easier if they had simply obeyed in the first place before their circumstances got shaken up.

Maybe God is “shaking things up” in your life to put you right where you need to be. Maybe you’ve been ignoring Him, or maybe He’s just adjusting your life to position you in the best spot.

Either way, if things are a little crazy right now, ask God to show you anything you need to change and anything you need to learn through this shake up.
