Even the uphill parts are fun (or at least worth it).
Even with a cold, it was a lot of fun to hike almost 5 miles on the Appalachian Trail today.
We love to hike, but sometimes who we are with is even more important than what we’re doing.
That’s often true when we wonder why. Why’d this happen? Why didn’t that happen?
Thankfully the Bible has a lot to say about the “why?” question. And it turns out, it’s often more helpful questions to ask “Who is with me?” and “Will it count for something?”
Acts 12:1-3 says, “Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. 2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. 3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)”
As we flash forward a little bit, we see some of what’s coming from all that bad: “And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. But the word of God grew and multiplied.” (Acts 12:23-24)
God dealt with Herod and brought good from the bad.
We don’t always get to know why, but we can know that our Savior Jesus is with us and that everything we go through for Him will be things that impact an eternal purpose.
