Jesus never tells us to go and stay the same

I had a great time with Brooklyn and her class on their field trip to the Conococheague Institute today! We saw a lot of different things and got to participate in some great activities, but I was intrigued by this “obedient plant.” New one for me! Another parent and I joked that our kids might benefit from that plant 🤣

All kidding aside, we can all grow in our obedience to our Savior today.

John 8:7 says, “So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”

They brought a woman caught in adultery to Jesus.

Verses 10-11 say, “When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”

Jesus’ mercy and forgiveness here are amazing, and so is His steadfast stance against sin. He cannot ignore or tolerate sin, and He wants each of us to experience His love and forgiveness and go forward free from the grip of sin.

It’s easy to think that “Jesus loves me” means He’s ok with my sin, but that completely misses the point and the truth.

Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

It’s never ok to say wrong is right or right is wrong. and it’s also wrong and incorrect to claim that Jesus would ever do that.

We’re all sinners. Jesus is the Savior Who offers forgiveness and salvation to all. Let’s never miss out on Jesus by being ok with our sin, and let’s never think that some other sinner is too sinful for Jesus to forgive.
