Here’s something we can all agree on:

I didn’t finish that sentence because sometimes it feels like there’s nothing we can all agree on. But maybe we can at least respect each other enough to hear each other out and try to get at the truth instead of rejecting it out of spite.

John 9 records a time when Jesus healed a blind man on the Sabbath, a miracle that didn’t violate actual Old Testament law (miracles from God were never outlawed!) but did go against the religious leaders’ traditions.

After Jesus healed the man, the religious leaders questioned the guy. John 9:25 shows their horrible bias against Jesus and the man’s excitement at being able to see: “He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.”

They hated Jesus so much that they’d push against Him even when He did something completely good like healing someone.

I hope we can all agree that Jesus wants to change lives and that He is the only One Who offers true hope.

I hope we can all agree that we need Jesus and that it’s a great thing for Jesus to work in someone’s life.

And I hope we can all agree that Jesus and the Bible know better than we do. When our beliefs differ from what God says, we’re the ones who need to change.

We might not all agree about everything, but I hope we can all agree about Jesus or at least consider Him apart from our preconceived bias. His love, truth, and salvation really are amazing!
