Have you had a good Easter?

Hope you had a wonderful Easter! Last Easter was our first big calendar event here at Calvary, so it brings a lot of great memories. God was very good to our church again this Easter with a wonderful sunrise service, breakfast, Easter egg hunt, and main service. Precious time celebrating our risen Savior, and then we pretty much came home and collapsed afterward!

Easter can have a lot of fun activities, but the secret to a truly good Easter is the same as the secret to coming to Jesus: Remember His true purpose.

John 6:26 says, “Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.”

Those people came to Jesus but just for a meal (well, maybe dinner and a show!)

I love when anyone comes to Jesus and considers Him whether that’s visitors popping into church for Easter or someone praying for the first time in years, hoping Jesus will meet a need. But if we’re going to truly benefit from Jesus, we need to remember that He came to die for our sins and offer us salvation if we’ll repent and believe on Him.

John 6:66-68 says, “From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.”

When we reach the point that what we want is Jesus, not the things we can get from Jesus, we’re ready for real growth whether it’s Easter time or not.
