I think I was way too amused by this helicopter grabbing a ride down I-81 today! Just seemed ironic to me.
Sometimes we can’t get there on our own…and that’s ok.
Matthew 9:10-12 says, “And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.”
The Pharisees thought those publicans and sinners were too bad to come to Jesus, but maybe that was the point. Maybe they came to Jesus because they knew they needed Him and knew they couldn’t get right on their own.
We don’t need to be good enough to come to Jesus. In fact, the first step is to recognize that we aren’t.
If we claim we don’t need Jesus, we won’t be any more successful on our own than that helicopter would be trying to fly without its rotors!
