Who can come to God?

We give those cards out as a simple way to share the Gospel and invite people to our church.

Whether it’s those cards or any other invitation to come to Jesus, some people ignore it. Some reject it. Others receive it. One of the saddest groups to me is those who don’t feel like they CAN come to God.

You might be familiar with the story of the prodigal son who got an early inheritance from his father.

Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭13‬ ‭says, “And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.”

‭‭

Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭16‬ ‭says, “And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.”

He was at rock bottom because of his own choices. Thankfully he decided to go back to his dad.

Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭20‬ ‭describes one of my favorite ways God is pictured in the Bible: “And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.”

If you want to come to God, come and He will come running.

If you think you’re too far gone, take a step toward God.

If you’re saved but think you’ve drifted too far away, that despair is not from God.

If you know you aren’t good enough but hope God will take you anyway, He will.

If you realize you can’t earn your way to God, you’re on the right track. Come to Jesus today for the payment He made on your behalf. He did what we could never do.
