How do we treat those who can’t do anything for us?

We sure do love our pets, but they can be kind of lazy sometimes!🤣 They don’t do any chores, and they sure do make a lot more messes than they ever help clean up. But they’re a great part of our family.

Daniel‬ ‭9‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭says, “O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;”

Rebellion and shame…that’s all Israel had to offer at that point. And yet God responded with mercies and forgiveness. That’s amazing! And it’s just what He has in mind for us even though we have nothing to offer Him in return.

But it gets even better a little later in that same chapter with a prophecy about Jesus, the coming Messiah: Daniel‬ ‭9‬:‭26‬ ‭says, “And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:“

The greatest gift in history was freely given for people who can do nothing to deserve it or earn it.

But just because we can never repay Jesus for what He’s done for us, that doesn’t mean we can’t show our gratitude for our Savior by shining the light of the Gospel through our lives and telling everyone we can about Him.
