Don’t just hope. Decide.

Happy National Daughters Day to Addison and Brooklyn! It really is a wonderful privilege to be their dad!

I hope I’m a good dad to them, and that means every day I have the opportunity to choose to be a good dad to them.

Ezra 7:9-10 says, “For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him. 10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.”

Ezra didn’t just hope to get close to God and to do God’s purpose for his life. He prepared.

He prepared his heart, not just to seek God’s law but to do it.

What are you hoping to accomplish today? Whether it’s to be a good mom or dad, to invite someone to church, to quit a bad habit, or anything else you know God wants you to do, don’t just hope. Decide.
