Do you want to grow?

Addison and Brooklyn love to see how much they’ve grown according to this board. We mark off their height sometimes, and it’s fun (and a little scary) to watch how fast they grow up. Growth isn’t always easy, but I would be concerned if it stopped.

Psalm‬ ‭50‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭says, “But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? Seeing thou hatest instruction, And castest my words behind thee.”

They hated instruction!

Do you ever go to church (or maybe read a devotional) and it’s about some area you’re good in, about doing something you’re already doing? That’s easy to listen to! But some instruction will be about our weaknesses, areas we need to grow and improve in. How do we respond at those times?

That’s the kind of preaching we need because the kind that just makes us feel good about where we’re at doesn’t help us grow. We should come to the Bible, every sermon, every devotional, and every verse we read hoping to find some way we can grow a little bit more like our Savior Jesus.
