Trust that God has deeper purpose than what meets the eye

We are definitely seeing some things for the first time in Alaska! That iceberg is kinda small but still amazing to see, especially with those dark colors on it.

One thing we can count on about an iceberg: Most of it is underwater. Apparently we often see only 10% of an iceberg above the water (thankfully our ship stayed a long ways away!)

I think that’s a great reminder that there’s also more below the surface when it comes to God’s plan and purpose.

Jeremiah 49:38-39 says, “And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD. 39 But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD.”

What does God want most? To punish us? To make our lives miserable? Not at all! Yes He allows difficulties to grow us and will bring the consequences of our actions, but He wants all of that to bring us closer to Him.

Acts 2:9 mentions the Elamites being some of the people present at Pentecost. They had a chance to trust Christ right then, and I imagine many Elamites did.

We often notice only the “10%” of what God is doing and completely miss the deeper purpose. It’s easy to wonder “How could a loving God allow bad things to happen” and miss the ultimate good He has planned to bring through it.
