Why do we give warnings?

*Disclaimer: No girls were actually threatened in the making of this devotion post!😁 But there have been times where I have given them warnings about what would happen if they continue doing what they shouldn’t be doing.

We give warnings hoping kids will go the right way before they have to face consequences.

God gave entire nations such warning in the Bible. Sadly a lot of warnings were ignored. Here are a couple examples:

“Woe to the land shadowing with wings,

which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia:” (Isaiah 18:1)

“The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.” (Isaiah 19:1)

Nation after nation was soon going to be judged for rejecting God. So why share the warnings? Because there was still time for them to get right and avoid judgment.

God spared Nineveh when they repented.

God spared individuals and nations when they responded the right way to warnings.

God warns about coming judgment on sin for those who’ve rejected Him and also about coming consequences for personal sin for Christians.

We should be quick to respond to those warnings.

We should also be willing to share those warnings with others who need them. I wonder who might respond and repent if we share the truth with them today.
