Throwback to each of our girls’ kindergarten graduation photos! Makes me think ahead to high school graduation (which is thankfully still a LONG ways off!)
Do I hope they’ll go to college? Do I hope for them to skip that potential debt and go right into a career? Or to focus on raising a family?
It’s easy to want our kids to follow a similar career/life path as us, but that’s not always God’s plan.
What is true is that God has an amazing plan for my daughters and for each of us, and His plan will perfectly use our personality, talents, and experiences.
Exodus 38:22-25 says this about making the tabernacle: “And Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made all that the LORD commanded Moses. And with him was Aholiab, son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, an engraver, and a cunning workman, and an embroiderer in blue, and in purple, and in scarlet, and fine linen. All the gold that was occupied for the work in all the work of the holy place, even the gold of the offering, was twenty and nine talents, and seven hundred and thirty shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary. And the silver of them that were numbered of the congregation was an hundred talents, and a thousand seven hundred and threescore and fifteen shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary:”
Some had practical hands-on skills and experience.
Some seem to have been good in business to make money and be in a position to give large amounts to the work of the Lord.
Others (the priests, the spiritual leaders) probably had more of what we might call “book learning” today.
All were needed. All joined together for the work of God.
As a dad, what do I hope for my daughters’ future?
I hope my girls follow God, His perfect plan for their lives.
That’s also what I hope to do today and every day.
