Some things take more than a wish

Thankfully straight hair is one wish my wife can grant the girls sometimes. They have fun with it (and look beautiful!), but some things take more than a wish.

Ephesians 6 describes the armor of God.

Verse 13 says, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

We are either getting ready to stand for Christ or to fall without Him. It’s not up to a wish. It’s a choice…every day.

Verse 14 says, “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;”

We can wish we’d stand on God’s Word more or we can get busy filling our lives with the truth that lets us stand.

Verse 15 says, “And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;”

We can be in a world that often hates Christians and still share the Gospel, the good news, the truth. But it takes preparation. Maybe you wish you shared your faith more, but you need to stop wishing and start preparing. Put some Gospel tracts in your purse or wallet. Think through what you’ll say. Invite that friend out for coffee, and then pay for their coffee so they’ll want to listen to what you have to say.

We can wish to be strong Christians all we want, but wishing won’t make it so. With God’s help let’s get busy.
