Fires need oxygen to keep burning. What do you need to keep your light shining?

Quick science experiment the girls and I enjoyed trying. Once you put that jar over the candle and into the water, the fire burns up the oxygen and then sucks up some of the water into the jar. It’s able to keep going and keep the water out until the fire burns out.

That light won’t shine without oxygen. What’s your oxygen?

2 Peter 1:5-8 says, “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” In other words, those things, that kind of steady growth and fuel, will keep you going.

It’s not just knowing how to live for Jesus. It’s actually living it out. It’s not just reading God’s Word. It’s doing it. It’s not praying through a list. It’s praying your heart out to God.
