What you surround yourself with will get into your life
Simple thought with a powerful truth: Jen soaked those peppers overnight and wouldn’t you know it, that pepper got filled with water. Nothing amazing about that except that it pictures exactly what happens to us with whatever influences we choose to surround ourselves with.
Genesis 13:12 says, “Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.” Sodom was an extremely sinful city. Everyone knew it. And yet that’s exactly where Lot chose to face his front door. He didn’t jump right in, but he surrounded himself with that temptation.
By the time we get to Genesis 19, the sin of Sodom had soaked into Lot’s whole family.
Verse 1a says, “And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom:” Here’s Lot sitting at the gate, blending right in as a part of that sinful culture instead of taking a stand against it.
His wife and daughters had gotten so used to the sin in Sodom that some tragedies awaited them as they finally left. And it all started with what Lot wanted around him.
