How to keep growing when you keep falling down

2 Peter 3:18 says, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”

A lot of times we’ll think “Hey, I got saved, so everything should be great.” And we’ll feel like the biggest failures if we fall down in sin, if we’re not perfect overnight. But we won’t be perfect until heaven.

And we don’t have to beat ourselves up or quit if we aren’t growing as fast as we think we should.

A lot of times we grow like this kinetic sand: It gets taller for a little bit, and then falls over. But when it falls over, it gets wider. As it grows upward, it grows out.

We need to allow God and His Word and His influence to grow outward in more and more areas of our lives. That’s when we’ll be ready to grow taller as Christians.

So when we fall and find another area of sin in our lives, that’s not time to give up; that’s time to give that area to God and keep growing.

Maybe you’ve never allowed God into your friendships or your social media or your music, your TV choices, your free time, or you’re witnessing. Allow Him in and keep growing.
