How do you get rid of a problem? Kill the roots!

Not trying to sound violent, and I don’t recommend this method for dealing with people😏but when you’ve got a bunch of weeds that just keep growing back no matter how often you weed eat them or spray them, it might be time to pull out a weed burner and wipe them out all the way down to the roots.

Eliminating a problem all the way down to the roots is also how we need to deal with spiritual challenges. How can we tell what the real root of a problem is? The Bible gives us some great places to start.

If you struggle with lust, deal with your heart, not just your actions and screen. Matthew 5:27-28 says, “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

If you blow it when you get angry, start the battle way earlier. Matthew 5:21-22 says, “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.”

And if you’re constantly fighting with someone (or everyone), recognize and fix the real issue: “Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.” (Proverbs 13:10).

Whether it’s one of those issues or something else, allow God’s Word to show you how to get down to the real root of the problem.
