Deep truth: It’s easier to drive if you stay on the road! It just gets tough if we go off into a ditch (thankfully that didn’t happen today!)! I should obviously be a Drivers Ed instructor, I know!😏😬🤔 But as simple as that thought is, it offers a great life lesson: There’s safety when we stay on the path God has for us…and there are also plenty of “ditches” to avoid.
Proverbs 4:26-27 says, “Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. 27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.” God has an amazing plan for each of our lives and for each day. Let’s not allow anything to pull us off that path. Here are a couple examples of spiritual “ditches” that it’s easy to fall into (at least for me).
Worry: Focusing on results when God wants us to rest in Him and what He provides. If we avoid the “ditch” of worry we’ll be able to rest easy even when surrounded by difficulty because we’ll remember that God is in control.
Pride: Thinking it all depends on us and is all about us. If we avoid the “ditch” of pride we can rest easy because we’ll remember that it all depends on God not on us.
God has an amazing plan and purpose for us. Each morning, let’s take time to connect with God and make sure we’re on the right path, going the right way. Then, let’s make sure we stay on the path and avoid any “ditches” along the way.
