Is it change or progress?

They’re not always the same thing! Thankfully this project at our church pavilion is a great step forward: adding bathrooms and a kitchen space. There’s been a lot of hard work, and it’s exciting to see it coming together! Building just for the sake of building would be pointless, but building something useful is a great thing.

Some people seem to like change just for the sake of change, but the right change brings good progress in the right direction. Exodus 14:15 says, “And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:” God made an amazing path for the Israelites to go forward as He parted the Red Sea, but they still had to step forward to make any progress.

We all change all the time, but a lot of that change isn’t progress toward anything good. Wanna know how to find the right path when there’s not a parted sea in front of you? Become more like Jesus! Ephesians 4:15 says “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” A lot of people spend a lot of time trying to change themselves only to find that they got worse. But we’ll always make genuine progress when we move closer to Jesus and grow to be more like Him.
