“If you hear someone playing Beethoven badly, don’t blame Beethoven!”

I heard that quote on a reel the other day and it stuck with me. Honestly, I can’t even attempt to play Beethoven so that’s me playing “Mary Had a Little Lamb”…with 1 finger ‘cause that’s the best I can do!🤦🏼‍♂️ It’s not Beethoven’s fault I can’t play his music well, and it’s not Jesus’ fault if Christians don’t live for Him the way we should, the way He lived. But it sure helps if we show people what He’s really like.

2 Timothy 1:5 says, “When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.” Timothy had some great examples of how to live for Jesus, but he was a young preacher who had a choice: Would he live for Jesus like his mom and grandma did even though the culture around him rejected Jesus? Would he show people what Jesus is really like? Thankfully, Timothy faithfully lived for Jesus.

If we don’t live out God’s Word well, people shouldn’t blame God. But they won’t want to know more about Him if we give the wrong example. It’s been said that you might be the only Bible someone ever reads. In other words, people will look at you and me to see what Jesus is like.
