Before you feel too sorry for my cat, please understand that Boots often starts the fights (and ends them)! I’m not always sure why cats and dogs fight, but the Bible gives us a great look into why people fight.
Proverbs 13:10 says, “Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.” If you ever find yourself constantly fighting and wondering why everyone else is so hard to get along with, start by looking in the mirror. I’ve definitely been there, and things never got better until I was willing to humbly be a part of the solution instead of pridefully adding to the problem.
James 4:1 says, “From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?” Wrong desires, wrong focus, and wrong choices all lead to wrong conflict. There’s a time to take a stand. There are times to step up and fight. But if we’re constantly pushing for our own way, our own preference, our own promotion, we’re fighting the wrong battle…and losing no matter what happens.
