When It Doesn’t Seem to Be Doing Any Good

Jen and I enjoy mowing and doing landscaping at our church, and it seems like there’s always several spots that need better grass. Just when we get one area looking good, another one looks bare and needs some help. I’m not complaining; this area is bare because we got a corral ball game area put in and have enjoyed using it. But in many areas of life, it can start to feel like it isn’t worth it, like it’s not doing any good,  a giant waste of time. Here’s one thing that’s ALWAYS worth it and ALWAYS brings good results.

Isaiah 55:11 says, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” God’s Word is always worth reading and sharing because it always brings good results. It’s not a magic genie to give us whatever we want, but the Bible will have a meaningful impact when it is read and shared even when we don’t see that impact right away.

It’s easy to get discouraged and feel like it’s not worth it, not working, to share the Bible with people around us,  but we can know that faithfully sharing God’s Word always brings good. So keep telling people about our amazing Savior. Keep inviting people to church. Keep passing out Gospel tracts. Keep sharing God’s Word however God leads you to do it. Results takes time. And effort. But most of all, they take GOD.

There are a lot of worthless wastes of time, but Isaiah 55:2 perfectly describes the hope God offers and the emptiness of life without Him: “Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.”

The Bible is one thing that’s guaranteed to have positive impact and bring good results.
