Drifting through Life and Just Going with the Flow?

I wanted to bring home some driftwood from our recent beach trip, but that log was just too big! I enjoy finding driftwood that washes up on a beach or the shore of a river. It’s hard to tell how far it’s travelled, but it’s clear that it just went wherever the current took it. What a terrible way for us to live!

If our mood goes up and down with each political situation and election or if our hopes change as fast as our bank account, we need something stronger to anchor our lives and keep us from drifting around aimlessly and hopelessly.

Ephesians 4 talks about growing and maturing in our faith, and verse 14

describes a big reason we need to grow: “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;”

Truth is the greatest weapon against lies. Let’s immerse ourselves in the truth of God’s Word and help others learn the truth as well.

If we’re gonna just “go with the flow,” we’d better check which way it’s taking us!
