Brinkley has taken that first step and slid down that slide before…and seemed to enjoy it! But this time, that first step was too scary. She went back down the steps the way she had come up instead of going down the slide!
The first step of almost anything can be the hardest and scariest and also the most important because after that, each step usually gets easier. Any time God is leading us, we need to take a step of faith, believing that God will catch us and hold us up as we step up and step out of our comfort zone for Him.
Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” It’s been said that “Faith is the only thing that gives God His proper place, and puts man in his place too.” We don’t have to see all of God’s plan to trust His plan. As long as we are stepping out in faith toward Him, He will take care of the details.
Maybe God is challenging you to invite a friend to church or share your faith with a coworker or neighbor. Maybe He wants you to give Him more time each day even though you’re already way too busy. Maybe it’s a major life decision. If God is leading, take the first step toward Him.
