Ever been to IKEA? Or better yet (maybe worse?): Have you ever bought furniture from IKEA and then had to spend hours putting it together? Most of their stuff comes in pieces with a long instruction manual, but you really can get some cool stuff at good prices (and we mostly go for the Swedish meatballs anyway!). If you’re willing to put it together yourself, IKEA might be the place for you, but sometimes it’s worth paying extra to have the work done for you already.
Anyone who hopes to go to heaven one day when this life is over should be glad to know that Jesus has already done the work for us. Many people stress out and strain themselves trying and hoping to be good enough to earn their way to heaven, but the way to heaven has already been paid for. In fact, you are worth so much to God that He sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross, a criminal’s death, even though Jesus is perfect and never did even 1 wrong thing. Jesus died for your sins; He rose again and offers salvation to all who will repent and believe on Him as Savior. We could try (and fail) to “put it together” for ourselves, but John 19:30 says, “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” Jesus said “It is finished” as in it’s DONE, not just begun! If you’ve never trusted Him as your Savior, I hope you will today. And if you have, remember what Philippians 1:6 says: “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” The next time Satan tris to make you feel like you’re done, like it’s all over every time you make a mistake, remember that our salvation is bought and paid for and that God is helping us become more like Jesus every day. We will be perfect forever in heaven one day, so why not keep growing a little bit every day right now?
