I’m all for eating healthy! I try to eat less sugar and definitely go for natural fruits and vegetables often, but I think sometimes that “all natural” label is misleading! Those delicious double stuf Oreos have less added sugar per serving than the pineapple juice! “All natural” can be a bad thing: the poison arsenic is all natural after all (it’s even in apple seeds!). Thankfully we have supernatural help available and don’t have to live the “all natural” best we can do on our own.
1 Corinthians 2:14 says, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Without God’s help, we can’t even see our need for Him and His salvation. If God is leading you to salvation, please respond!
As Christians, we choose many times every day whether we’ll live out what we naturally want to do or what we supernaturally want to do with God’s help instead. In Romans 7:19, the Apostle Paul describes his wrong natural desires this way: “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.” You might be thinking “Didn’t Paul do a bunch of great stuff for God?!?” And that’s exactly the point: Through Jesus living in him, Paul was able to do great things, and so can we! Just because it makes sense to us doesn’t mean it’s right or best. Just because it would make us happy in the moment doesn’t mean it would make Jesus happy. We need supernatural help, and that’s just what Jesus offers!
